Publishing Platform
WordPress is an open source blogging / content management platform written in PHP. While WordPress originated as a blogging platform, it actually has a fair bit of flexibility for use a basic content management system. There are a lot of plugins available (more than 5,000 at last check) but the quality is pretty mixed.
For more advanced content management requirements, we generally recommend a solution based on Drupal.
