Mediawiki is a free software wiki written in PHP, and using a database backend such as MySQL for content storage . It was originally designed for use on the Wikipedia collaborative encyclopedia, but is now one of the most common database-driven wiki applications.
Recently we've been deploying more DokuWiki solutions as a simpler and more supportable alternative to MediaWiki.
